How to do Family Fondue Movie Night

We love movie night and we love fondue.

Friday morning I decided that we would have family night with dinner, fondue and a movie.

We went to the store to get our items for the evening.

  • Apples
  • Red Vines
  • The Hobbit
Hubby and I have been wanting to see the Hobbit and I was able to get it on Blu Ray. I mean really is there any other way to watch it?  I didn't think so.

Did I tell you about this book? They also have a web site. Six Sisters Stuff

I have made 4 recipes out of it for my family in one week. They have loved everything. I love being able to find a great cookbook with recipes that my family wants more of. We have 5 more planned for this week.

So Friday I made this:
20 Minute Skillet Lasagna and Garlic Knots
Even SassyDiva liked it

Then we cleaned up and got out the really good stuff.
Red Vines, Chocolate and Apples---Velata Style
Have you not heard about Velata? Oh it is so yummy. They have great deals going on right now. Message me to get in on them.

Hubby and I enjoyed the Hobbit and SassyDiva was actually really quite through the whole thing. So glad that we bought it. We love Lord of the Rings so I knew this would not disappoint.

How do you fondue?
Do you have a family movie night?

Time flies....4 months

Mr Man turned 4 months old today. He has gotten so big and has brought so much joy to our family. He was definitely the final piece to our lives.

He is gotten so big for starting out so small.
He loves his daddy very much. He gets the biggest smile when his daddy walks in the room.
He thinks that his sisters are pretty funny. He always gives his brother a big smile too. Which is more that Shelby will do.

Thank you Mr.Man for choosing our family. We love you so much.

St Patricks Day fun

St Patrick's Day has come again this year. We of course were all in our green.
Mr Man every got some pretty festive PJ's.

The tricky Leprechauns showed up again this year and turned things a little green. My almond milk and Mr Man's milk.
Well I decided to take full advantage of the shenanigans and try my own version of the famous McShamrock Shake.
Healthy Version:
8 oz. Unsweetened Almond Milk
2 scoops Body By Vi shake mix
1/2 cup plain greek yogurt
2 drops doTerra Peppermint oil
4 drops green food coloring if it isn't already green :)

Shake it all up and you have a healthy version of the drink that is just as yummy.

Mama got skills!

Ok I like to think I am crafty. If I see something I like I try to think of a way to make it myself. Hubby is usually the one who does the hard work and I make it pretty.

We are a great team.

So I have been needing a display for my medals. I had an idea in my head and went to work. Hubby had already cut a bunch of wood for me so I had a spare piece. Slapped some paint on it and screwed in the hooks.

Lucky for me when I don't want to cut out vinyl on my vinyl cutter my honey works at an awesome place that had this saying. I was going to use it in my daughters room but never found the right place. Lucky me right?

All I had left to do was hang my medals. I love it. I did not hang my TinkerBell medal because it hangs around my darling Tink Minnie that hubby bought me.

10k recap

I don't run very many 10k races. I either chose 5k or half marathon. Today I chose a 10k.

I chose a 10k as my first goal since my return to running. I run a 5k everyday so 10k sounded doable.

The 10k I chose was a virtual one. Since I live in the middle of nowhere and there are not very many races here, virtual is the way to go. Plus an added bonus was it had BLING!!!! Even the 5k races that are local do not have BLING!!! I need something to show for my accomplishment.

My plan was to do the 10k yesterday. Well mother nature had other plans. We got a huge snow storm the night before. My honey was worried about me falling on the ice so I postponed it.

So even though I lost an hour of sleep due to daylight savings time I got up this morning ready to run.

Since it was a St. Patricks Day run I dressed the part. I had these socks on:

I also wore my Team Sparkle skirt:

I have to say they are the best skirts that sparkle that I have ever run in.
I put my Garmin on, my FitBit and turned on RunKeeper. I even had my cute bib.

I was bundled and ready.

I stepped outside at 5:30 and it was COLD!!! My phone said it was 34 but felt like 27. Yep the wind was blowing.
Great a windy run. I hate running in the wind. Well I sucked it up and decided to go for it. I went my first mile in up in the canyon by my house. I got a little scared in the dark. No street lights and stupid me didnt bring a flashlight nor did I think to turn the one on my phone on.

Oh well I just ran really fast. Finally, I got to a point where I had street lights again.

I set up my RunKeeper to tell me 1 minute intervals. So I ran a minute then I walked a minute. There were times I would just keep running and then would walk for a minute. I felt pretty good till it was time to come back home.....all up hill.

I kept at it. 1 minute run, 1 minute walk. I didn't look at my pace or my time. I just wanted to finish. I estimated 1 hour 30 minutes. I was hoping with the wind to do that.

The last 10k I ran was about 7 years ago and my time was 2:11.

I finally made it home. I was starting to get a little sore in my joints. I stopped right at 6.2 miles and walked the rest of the way home.
I got home and looked at RunKeeper

1 hour and 28 minutes. Beat my own goal by 2 minutes. Set a new PR for a 10k race. I hope to shatter that in the near future.

I got in the shower and just stood there till I warmed up. I rubbed Deep Blue all over my legs and went downstairs and got breakfast and coffee.

For my first 10k post pregnancy and only 3 weeks back into running I would say not bad.  I cant wait to do the next one in a few weeks.

So last night as I was pondering how to grow this blog and get our name out there I found Mamavation.
How did I find them? Oh I joined Twitter. I caved. I had been holding out. We will try it.
With all this social media that I am apart of I asked the question today:

"HootSuite or TweetDeck? " Let me know if you use either or both.

So back to Mamavation. What are they about? Why do I want to be apart of it?

According to their website:

"Mamavation™ is a online docudrama and weight loss support group for moms in social media. It’s both a campaign and Virtual Sorority™ in one."

Well this sounds right up my ticket line. So I read a little more. There are so many moms out there looking for help and support. I love this site.  They are right in line with us here at MommyLand.

So I am taking the Pledge:

I want to be a Mamavation Sista.
I feel that our goals are the same. Offer others support while taking the ride of life ourselves.

I am always looking for others with similar interests to get in touch with.  I am a mother and I am a runner. I have goals. I want to reach them. How great to stay in touch with others that will help me.

So lets take this ride together.

Each week here will be Mamavation Monday. You can come here and discuss your progress and goals with me. Or join me at Mamavation. Take the pledge with me.

Goal for the week:

20 miles

What are your goals? Are you up to taking the pledge with me?

First week back

Well I just finished my long run.

Now when I say long run please remember this is my first week back running after a year break. Wow typing that was a little bit of reality. I can not believe it has been a year since I have been running steadily.
Well it felt good out there this morning. After not being able to sleep last night I thought getting up would be hard.
I set my alarm and did it. I got out of bed.
Thoughts running through my head:
Oh my bed is warm.
Oh I need more sleep.
I will run later.

We all have excuses right? Well I didn't let the get the better of me. I have goals. I have races I signed up for. I don't get solo runs very often. Oh I didn't mention that. Yep the hubs is giving me some time to go solo.

Oh I need this. Solo run. Feeling free. No pushing my favorite 100 pounds up and down the hills. Ok get up.

I got dressed..warmly cause it is still cold here. Out I went. It was easier than I though it would be. I just kept going. I planned on 5 miles. I went 4.64. Not bad for the first one.
So now that I have the first long run under my belt. I am ready to tackle more.

I am glad I stopped when I did. Once I got home and started stretching I realized how stiff I was. Off to the shower and some Deep Blue rubbed on my calves.

I met my step goal by 8 am. I have a goal of 10,000 steps a day. Done!!!

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend. I am going to enjoy another cup of coffee.

Total mileage for the week: 16.68 miles
